JUST IN: Pirates overcome Nationals after trailing 1-0 in the first inning.

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates overcame an early three-run deficit to defeat the visiting Washington Nationals 9-4 thanks to three runs scored by Nick Gonzales. The Pirates (66-74) suffered a 12-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, but they recovered after going without a hit for the first time in four years. Over five innings, Pittsburgh’s starter Bailey Falter (7-7) gave up three runs on seven hits. He struck out three and walked two. For his sixth save of the game, Aroldis Chapman recorded the last two outs.
