Giants Designate Daulton Jefferies for Assignment, Promote Mason Black
The Giants made a move on Monday, announcing that they have designated right-hander Daulton Jefferies for assignment. This decision clears a spot on the 40-man roster for right-handed pitching prospect Mason Black, whose promotion from Triple-A Sacramento has been confirmed. Jefferies, 28, made his Giants debut at the end of March, marking his return to the MLB after undergoing Tommy John surgery and thoracic outlet surgery. Despite showing promise in Spring Training and performing well in Triple-A, Jefferies struggled in his two big league appearances, facing challenges with hits and runs. While he has found success in the minors, injuries have hindered his performance at the MLB level. The Giants now have a week to trade Jefferies, place him on outright waivers, or release him, with the possibility of him becoming a free agent if he clears waivers.
