ESPN: In the hypothetical trade scenario, Dorian Finney-Smith returns home with the Mavericks.
This offseason, the Dallas Mavericks have taken significant steps to establish themselves as NBA contenders. In order to strengthen their roster for the difficult 2024–25 season, the defending Western Conference Champions acquired Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, and Naji Marshall this summer. They have an excellent balance between attack and defence, but their frontcourt lacks depth when it comes to wings. Beyond P.J. Washington and the recently signed Marshall, the Mavericks have plenty of players that are 6’4″ to 6’6″ and can play numerous spots alongside to Luka Doncic. However, there aren’t enough big men to consistently defend the frontcourt. Reuniting with an old DFW favourite who was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2023 is the greatest method to address this predicament.
