Breaking: Veteran left-hander for the Cardinals is getting close to returning to the major leagues.
He was getting close to making his big league comeback after pitching four scoreless innings on 76 pitches the night before. Although (per Denton) Marmol suggested that the veteran is likely to make one more rehab start before returning to the majors, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch added that the Cardinals currently plan to have Matz return to St. Louis to be evaluated by the team’s medical staff before deciding whether or not to make an immediate return to the big league staff.
