Breaking : Giovanni Manu Likes Being Thrown in ‘The Deep End’
Giovanni Manu, a rookie offensive lineman for the Detroit Lions, isn’t scared of the deep end. Manu was learning to swim as a child. His father would take him to the deep end, strap him into a life jacket, and tell him to swim, instead of starting him in the shallows and having him paddle along. That period of his life has turned out to be the ideal representation of Manu’s current situation. After playing collegiately in Canada, he was selected in the fourth round by the University of British Columbia. Now, he finds himself back in the deep end as he adjusts to the NFL.
